soft bread for jam

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • jam of your choice

Start by activating the yeast. In a bowl, combine warm water and sugar, stirring until dissolved. Sprinkle in the yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Once the yeast mixture becomes bubbly, mix in the olive oil and honey. Add salt and stir. Gradually, pour in the flour, mixing to form a sticky dough.

Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead it for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add more flour if needed to prevent sticking.

Place the kneaded dough in an oiled bowl, covering it with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

After the dough has risen, punch it down to release air bubbles. Turn it out and shape it into a loaf, tucking the ends under for a neat shape.

Place the loaf in a greased baking pan, cover it, and let it rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) while waiting.

Once the dough has risen, bake it in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped.
