Chocolate chip muffins

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
PREPARATION METHOD

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a muffin tin or line it with paper liners. This helps prevent the muffins from sticking and makes cleanup easier.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mixing dry ingredients first ensures an even distribution of leavening agents throughout the batter.

In another bowl, whisk the melted butter, egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Stir until fully combined. The wet mixture should be smooth, with no lumps remaining from the butter or egg.

Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Gently fold everything together using a spatula or spoon. Avoid overmixing to prevent dense muffins; the batter should remain slightly lumpy.

Once the batter is combined, fold in the chocolate chips. You can reserve some chips to sprinkle on top before baking for a more appealing look and extra chocolate flavor.

Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about 2/3 full. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool before serving.
